Power Structures.
So power comes in many different forms and shapes, power can be exerted in many ways. Historically power has been associated with religion and dictatorships. But power is exerted to us in our everyday life’s. From the day of our birth, structures and orders have been followed. When we start to grow up we know to listen to everything our parents say. Those parents who still have religious ties will initiate their child into a faith structure. Then in school it’s time for a new sort of power, the power of the education system and the power of your peers. Now grow up into an adult and your starting to be influenced by government and politics. You get married have a baby and the world goes by, and they cycle starts again.
So ever since the beginning of time there has been this cycle that revolves around power structures moving and changing at the right time to make us behave and be a citizen of the world.
The family is a very special thing. We all have different experience of families and have different expectations. Most families are in a hierarchy were the breadwinners generation are the ruling, and their offspring are the followers. Even in this structure there are smaller structures, where dominance decided who the alpha male is or female out of the siblings. Even within the family structure is part of a bigger structure (which by now is branching out like a tree). The extended family e.g. the off springs grandparents may have a huge sway in the power exerting. Twelve Characteristics of a Family System.
Moving on some of these branches may be part of a bigger structure a structure so big it can sway its power of billions of people. Religion. Religion has been exploited and mutilated by institutions and used by governments to have mass populations of the world follow similar values and have one identity. Even religion starts to branch out as there is not just one religion according to the latest surveys’ say there are about 22 major religions in practice today. Statistics from Adherents. All of these separate religions have their own sway of power in the world and governments and corporations are tapping into this power.
So now moving on to politics, when a young person grows up they start to get a grip of how they think the world is run and over the course of their education they have learnt that a capitalist democracy is the way forward in life. They have also learnt to conform to people higher up the chain. So the young adult now starts to get into his/her element getting on with worldly affairs following the rules put in place by his master be him God or a Leader.
I drew inspiration to write this post from various books and websites, i have created hyper links, but the ones to Wikipedia were done for me buy wordpress and now they wont go. One of the books I used was this one about Sociology it had given me a good insight in to ties and structures around societies and its people.
Guy Debord: “Plagiarism is necessary. Progress implies it. It embraces an author’s phrase, makes use of his expressions, erases a false idea, and replaces it with the right idea.”
