Task 1 Critical Evaluation

Task 1 has a brief that could be adapted to very easily. Being me, I would obviously do something that is powerful and made me stand out, even if it meant degrading my self as a person. I hope my effort paid off and has you questioning yourself about any habits or something that makes you who you are.
We are all a statistic; nothing but a number in the masses. I am not just one number. I am a person. A face. A voice someone that would explore to any level to find a reason for his existence. Documenting statistics about my life is not too hard. Everything we usually do has a number attached to it; a statistic, a label or group that the bearer is put in.
From day one of the task I have constantly been adapting my ideas to visualise these statistics about me. I have had many idea’s which have ended up in the bin; some didn’t even make it to the paper. They were banished well before that chance. I had a few problems along the way finding my way around Adobe’s famous Photoshop package, that performs miracles for old women wanting to look young. Beside that use this powerful desktop publishing tool allows us to manipulate pictures to engulf or readers imagination and mind.
This game I have set my path in is all about, the capturing of souls and minds of the innocent mass. We are guilty and we know it. If I make it in the industry I am heading towards I will be heavily influenced into telling one Lie after another. I am scared about the future; globalisation is a frightening prospect and many people are oblivious to what the outcome of it would be. A New World Order awaits us. Be afraid, be very afraid. Nothing is done with you in mind, remember that. Hybrid media forms will allow me to tap into any beings mind and portray my ideological beliefs on them and win them over. This game is all about power structure and hierarchy. Fuck the person on the top of the pyramid. Try marking me down for swearing, I dare you, its still in the dictionary.
You are not going to escape this, no one is, not even me. It is embedded in us to believe the higher order. They educate us, they fund us, they watch us. When they say something we believe it. Being a media producer I am moving away from believing what I have been told at some points; even when it comes down to my education. I see that I am training to be a professional manipulator. Lets see how it goes.
Materialism has us locked; even when we realise what it has done to us, we still cant cut our self loose. I have serious concerns about the generations coming up. Give it 3 or so steps and people would loose their identity and almost as robots listen and agree to every order they are given. Rebel. It’s our right. Don’t let people tell you what they want you to believe. I testify that the end is near. Take your sides.
What I have discussed is something which I have come to terms with during my personal reflections on the current climate we are surrounded by. I believe that Task 1 has helped me understand more about expression and expressing your views and ideas in a visual form. This is what convergence is about, it’s about coming to a new era, where I honestly think control over everything is the main motive for the driving force. My pictures are very personal to me and they tell a story about my life. There is no right and wrong on how a persons life unfolds.
The pictures you have seen may have reference to narcotics. I would like to clarify that during the production of Task 1 no illegal substance was abused. However people may assume they are made to portray illegal substances; I don’t see a problem in this portrayal as I don’t see it being an issue anywhere on the brief. If that’s what it portrays, then that’s what it portrays; don’t shoot the messenger.
These pictures have been uploaded to flickr which is also linked to my blog. I had a few slight hick-ups along the way. I over came them like Julius Caesar, he said, Veni, Vedi, Vici (Google it if you don’t know what I am talking about).
Overall this module has made my eyes open wider to what I already know regarding the change that is happening amongst us. I have picked up some valuable knowledge that I would be able to transfer on in my personal work. I am satisfied with this task and this module so far and hope to continue on my journey with Tasks 2 and 3.
